Hi, I'm Bao!
I'm a Product & UI/UX Designer with a background in digital art and development.
My design journey
started with my passion for art and problem-solving. From paper dolls that I drew as a kid to landscapes rendered on my iPad screen, you’ll find that art is etched in every corner of my life! I discovered product design while studying Informatics at UCI and fell in love with the way designers problem-solve with creativity and empathy. I will be working toward my M.S. HCI at UCSC starting this Fall 2026! I’m excited to continue challenging myself to create intuitive, user-centered experiences that not only look beautiful but make life easier for the people using them. I design because I want to see people effortlessly enjoy the products they use everyday.
So why the butterflies, Bao?
Glad you asked! My name, Bao, means “butterfly” in Hmong which is the language I grew up speaking. It’s a name my dad gave me and I’ve become quite fond of it over the years. 🦋

When I'm not designing
you may find me playing badminton, immersed in a video game, watching anime (gimme recs), drawing on my iPad, trying out new restaurants / cafes, or advocating for my local communities! No matter what I'm doing, I'm always striving to learn new skills :D
